We are happy to announce an exciting new feature: you can now share automations between accounts with a link. This makes moving automations between accounts fast and easy and opens up all kinds of possibilities for collaboration.
Here’s how it works…
If you visit the “Automations” page and click the down arrow to the right of an automation, you’ll see a new “Share” option. Clicking it will generate a short link. Any Mautive user you share this link with will be able to import the automation.
Importing shared automations
If you have a link you can import the automation by going to the “Automation” page, clicking “New Automation,” and then clicking the new “Or import an automation” option.
When you import an automation Mautive will guide you through the process of updating any settings that are specific to your account. For instance, you might be asked which contact you want notified of new leads or which stage of a pipeline a contact should be moved to after opening an email — it depends on what that particular automation does. If you are interrupted or quit for whatever reason, the import process will be paused and can be resumed at any time by clicking into the automation again.
Basically, it works the way you’d want and expect it to work. It’s an excellent implementation (great job, Alex!).
You could use automation sharing to:
Move automations and messages between accounts. If you have more than one account, it’s now quick and easy to transfer automations (and email or text messages) between them.
Preview automations. If you visit the sharing link in your browser you’ll see a preview of the automation so the link itself is a convenient way to show someone what you are working on.
Create templates for frequently used automations. If you find yourself creating the same automations over and over, you can store a template as a link and build on top of it as needed.
Back up your automations. The automation is stored outside your account so, as long as you have the link, you can easily import it again at any time. This is a great way to save versions of an automation if you want to alter a complex automation without losing the original.
Create a product by bundling useful automations. Automations are essentially custom scripts with very high value applications. If you have some particularly effective automations you could bundle them together and sell them. Proven follow up sequences for new leads and new customer sequences that encourage repeat business and referrals will always be in high demand.
Use them to promote. If you are an Mautive affiliate, you can grow your list by offering free automations as an opt-in incentive or as a reward for purchasing through your affiliate link. You can build credibility as an expert and create goodwill in the small business community by sharing business building and time saving automations for free on your blog or social media accounts.
Create additional value for your accounts. Resellers in our partner program can offer lists of automations to differentiate their offering from other resellers and create additional value for their customers.
A few things you should know:
Only the automation itself (and any messages it uses) will be shared. Campaigns, lists, scores, deals, pipelines, events, and whitelisted domains will not be shared. If they are referred to within an automation, the user who is importing the automation will be prompted for updated settings. To be clear, any campaigns that aren’t used within the automation will not be shared. If those outside campaigns are referenced, for instance if the automation checks to see if a contact has opened an outside campaign, that email will not be imported and the wizard will prompt you to choose which email it should check for opens.
The automation will be shared as it exists when you click “Share.” Any alterations made after you create the link will not be included. To share an updated version, you’d need to create a new link.
Be sure to save the link from the window that appears after you click “Share” (the link isn’t accessible anywhere else).
Other improvements in this release:
In addition to the sharing feature, you’ll notice some nice design improvements on the automation overview page, including better automation preview and a more streamlined menu, making it more visually consistent with the new email builder. Also, automation folders are now called “labels.”
